The Snooper SLD950X Laser Diffuser is the latest product from Snooper. It has been literally designed from the inside out providing even greater protection against Mobile Safety Vans than ever before.

The Snooper SLD950X Laser Diffuser incorporates two banks of high powered LED output in the two units designed for the front of the vehicle. Designed to diffuse mobile safety vans and held laser guns.

With a new slim line design, this head unit has been designed to fit discreetly into your vehicle. The Snooper SLD950X Laser Diffuser's control box is neat and discreet. With powerful audio and visual warnings, the unit will clearly warn you of any hazards. The control box also has Volume Control, Power On LED, Self Test Front LED, Self Test Rear LED and finally a 'Mute' button.

The SLD950X is designed to diffuse mobile safety camera vans and hand-held laser guns. It incorporates 2 banks of high powered LED output in the 2 units - to be used in the front of the vehicle. The slimline design has enabled the SLD950X to be fitted discreetly into your vehicle.

Are they Legal ?

A In January 1998 the Queen's Bench Divisional Court stated that radar detectors had in fact never been illegal in the UK , contrary to popular folklore and the repeated claims of the police. We would recommend you check your own countries laws if you are outside the UK. Countries such as France, Belgium and Switzerland continue to take a very dim view of anyone found in possession of a radar detector. Confiscation of equipment and an instant fine is normal. In the Republic of Ireland it is legal to own a radar detector but illegal to be found using one.

Most police officers don't know they are legal so watch out. It seems that there are still quite a few police officers that still think they are illegal. It is NOT against the law to own a unit.... you can go back an claim it back if they take it from you. Quote the following.... "A judgement of the Queens Bench Divisional Court dated 29th January 1998 makes it clear that the use of Radar Detectors is not unlawful as has hitherto been claimed by some.

In the past a few prosecutions have been brought by claiming the use of radar detectors was contrary to section 5(b)(I) of the Wireless Telegraphy Act 1949 as amended by section 3 of the Post Office Act 1969. However the Acts refer to the interception of wireless communications for the purpose of obtaining information as to the content, sender or addressee of any message. The Court concluded that the radar transmission was not communicating a 'message' and therefore equipment designed to detect the presence of the transmission could not decode any such message.

It was further stated that section 1(1) of the Act, which requires a licence for the reception of radio signals, has been superseded by the Wireless Telegraphy Apparatus (Receivers)(Exemption) Regulations (SI 1989 No123) which exempts radar detectors and similar equipment from the need for such licences." GPS based units are completely legal and at the moment there have been no indications to suggest otherwise.

Important Laser info.- The proposed changes in legislation with regards to the banning of speed camera detectors will not affect Syrius, Indago, Sapphire, Strabo & Evolution GPS units.

“The Government will not be prohibiting those devices that rely on Global Positioning System (GPS) technology to warn drivers of published camera sites or posted speed limits, as these compliment the Government's policy to ensure that camera sites are visible and conspicuous to drivers, and so help deter excessive and inappropriate speeds on the roads.”

In our opinion, laser detection is 99% useless anyway as by the time you've been 'targeted' it is too late to do anything about it. Having advanced warning of known locations is a much better option enabling drivers to drive safe and hassle free.
